Wow wow wow, long time no post. This past year has been a life changing experience. I have a dance contract that required me to travel to France for a year. The best part about it, is that we get to go on tour. I just finished in July, the week of tour. First stop was Montpellier, France. Next stop is Morocco and I am so so so so excited. Sadly I'll be going for only a day, but thankful to be able to go anyway. If anyone still checks out this website and you want to see the two vlogs I posted I'll put a link to my YouTube Channel so you can check it out. www.youtube.com/channel/UCDAJRscljjCs5IwO4sgBoQw
Just wanted to do a little update before I start posting reguarly again. Much love and don't forget to smile today and stay hydrated. xx Mia

With November quickly coming to an end (seriously, I feel like November just started yesterday) and as we're about to celebrate Thanksgiving with your family. Let's not forget to give thanks to your friends. The ones who always have your back, always have your support and love you for who you are. Friendsgiving doesn't have to be dinner like Thanksgiving, it can be breakfast/brunch, lunch or if you must, dinner. Although we're all mostly there for the food, don't forget to show how much you appreciate your friends. Have a Happy Holidays, be safe and have fun.
Over the past month, I've decided to not wear makeup. Why you may ask and if you know me you're probably thinking, "but Mia, you don't even wear makeup besides, mascara and filling in your eyebrows." Well, filling in your eyebrows and wearing mascara can honestly change the way you look. I fell in love with the way I looked when I wore them and didn't really like the way I looked when I washed them off at the end of the day. It sadly got the point where I didn't want to wash my face at night (don't worry, I did wash my face).
Because I was feeling this way, I decided to challenge myself. My challenge was to learn to love the way I look without adding anything, but chapstick. I love that I made myself do this. My challenge will be coming to an end soon. Below are two pictures of me. One without makeup and one with makeup ( mascara, filled in eyebrows and lipgloss). Sadly, my summer is coming to an end and what's a better way to end a great summer? Going to a Beyoncé & Jay-Z concert. The concert was on August 25, 2018, in the one and only Atlanta, Georgia. The concert was one of the best concerts I've ever been to besides The Jonas Brothers, which might I add was my first concert. I had the best time, my throat and feet were super sore when the show was over (the show was 4 hours). Halle & Chole were the openers, DJ Khaled was the next performer and he brought two people that I don't remember the names of. Next was Celo Green, Ludacris, Lil Yachty and I believe one other person I don't remember the names of. After they did their songs, then Jay-Z and Beyoncé did their performance and it was absolutely amazing so full of energy and just people that were happy to be there.
I was super thankful and lucky to be able to be there and witness that concert. Music for some reason just puts me in the absolute best mood and mindset. I was beyond happy to be there and be able to check something off my bucket list. If you look at my Snapchat story it looks like I spent all of the concert on my phone when in reality I did not. I recorded ten seconds of my favorite songs so I can go back and remember that concert. In total, I picked up my phone probably no more than 8 times. I soaked up as much as I could of the entire show without my phone. If I had to narrow it down to the top 5 things that happened at the show it would have to be when, 1. Beyoncé said "I've been waiting to do this in Atlanta," (Swag Surfin'). The whole crowd and I mean everyone was doing it. 2. Jay-Z stopped the music so we could all get hyped up again with one of his songs and when he said something about the crowd being amazing. 3. Formation of course and the fact that I knew the dance so I dance along. 4. Jay-Z looked so amazed with our crowd (similar to number 2). 5. All of the throwback songs. Overall, the best concert, the best way to end the summer. Now it's time to start getting ready for school and moved into my new apartment. This year is my junior year of college. I've learned many things throughout my college years. I went from a freshman not knowing anything to a junior still yearning for more. I definitely wouldn't have gotten through any of my days without my biggest help which is my mom. That being said, here are a few tips and tricks that I did and wish I knew my freshman year to now.
As some of you may or may not know, I go to an art school in California. My major is dance. These tips & trips may or may not advise to you, if so, great, if not, maybe one or two things might. 1. Organization Being organized really helped me every year. Knowing when papers and homework were do, when tests and quizzes were (the syllabus is a huge help too in case teachers forget to mention important details). I always had my planner with me and I would usually (key word usually) do the homework the day I got it rather than putting it off to come back to it later. Also there was a specific folder for each subject also. To go the extra mile, I had a reminder on my phone. Yes, I'm that analytical. Moving on the next analytical thing I do. 2. Plan downtime Twice a week I plan downtime. Downtime could mean anything. Sunday's, Wednesday's & Saturday's were my downtime days last year. Sunday's I went grocery shopping, finished up anything I didn't finish before & meal prepped. Wednesdays after my 10am class I cleaned up my apartment and laundry and Saturday's I woke up an hour later than usual, ordered take out if I felt like it and watched movies for the rest of the day. 3. Take notes If your school is anything like mine. Most teachers email you the notes for the class, but I always found it helpful if I took notes as well and draw out the diagrams. For me, I find it better to write thing rather than to type things on my laptop. 4. Dress for Success If you're anything like me, the way you dress impacts your mood for the day. Even if I am having an off day and don't feel like dressing up, I always find a way to make my leggings or sweat pants look cute. Putting that small effort in your outfit to me, makes a huge difference. 5. Make friends That's one of my biggest regrets. I had friends in the beginning, without making things too personal lets just say dancers get very competitive....the rest i'll leave up to your imagination. After that I sorta shut myself off from the "dancers" at my school and I didn't really have time to adventure to the rest of my school. This year, my goal is to make friends. 6. Classes Choose morning classes rather than evening classes. It makes things a lot easier throughout the year and it makes your schedule more flexible. 7. What comes to mind write it down Trust me, you already have a million things on your mind. Write it down before you forget. A few days ago I had a photo shoot. Now you're probably wondering..."Why did you have this photo shoot?" Well let me tell you why......because I want to. Haha I was actually helping my mom out with her company and modeling a few bags that she made. There is a reason why I'm posting this and I'll get to that in a few. Now, I've had photo shoots before, from when I used to model when I was little, but this shoot was different, I was a nervous reck on the inside.
When I was younger, I was more carefree and didn't care what anyone thought and at the time, there wasn't any "instagram models" who we all know and love. Now to my reasoning, that you don't have to agree with, because it was just how I'm feeling. I was nervous because, all of my favorite models are tall and skinny and I'm short and muscular because I'm a dancer, now I know what you're thinking "but Mia, you aren't a model and you were just helping out your mom" yes I know, I know, but I was planning on posting them on Instagram, and so on and so forth. And as many of you can relate, I compared myself to them even though I shouldn't, but I did. I turned that nervousness into motivation. I was motivated to get in front of the camera more so I could be more comfortable in front of the camera and be that kid I was before who didn't care about what others thought of me. I want to do print/athletic modeling since I am too short for runway Anyway here are a few pictures from the shoot and I loved the way they turned out. Photos: Maxx Yin Bags by: Kalinda's Closet Lululemon is one of my favorite stores to buy my athletic wear. It's great for working out, running errands and if you're having a lazy day you can still rock lululemon (cute and comfy). I remember when I got my first pair of lululemon leggings. I had gotten them for my sweet 16 and I instantly fell in LOVE! They are the only leggings that have lasted me longer than a year without a getting bigger or shrinking and no holes even on the leggings with lace detailing. I highly recommend lululemon, not only cause I love them, but because their clothing makes me feel confident and it fits my body perfectly.
My family and I as of Friday got back from Florida to not one, but two broken AC systems. We came home to a 90 degree house. Which is insane, but here are some things I did to help me stay cool.
10. Cool down the room with dry ice When you put dry ice in a bin the gases from the dry ice turn into very cold carbon-dioxide gas and that gas takes in the heat from the air. Then the cool air circulates throughout the room. 9. Surround yourself with fans Turn on that ceiling fan, grab that decorative fan, plug in that tower fan and cool off with the tower fan. Then and only then will you be able to cool down. 8. Fresh face mask The three days I had absolutely no AC and what cooled me down just a smidge was a self-preserved face mask (kept in the fridge) from Lush called Cosmetic Warrior. My face thanked me for that refreshing face mask. |
